Why are atmospheric CO2 observations taken from a volcano?

All the atmospheric CO2 graphs seem to be based on data from a research station on Moana Loa. I know this is partly due to it being stuck in the middle of the Pacific and so as far from urbanisation as possible, but how do they make sure that the measurements are not influenced by volcanic emissions?
