Do dogs have the ability to comprehend the idea of "help"?

So I have a little miniature dachshund, and she always digs into my covers on my couch and this time I had a bigger thicker quilt that she was having trouble burrowing into so I helped her out and made a little nest lol, She looked up at me for like 2 minutes before she laid down. So I though maybe she was thinking about what I just did and was happy or She was thinking to herself "why the hell did he just mess with my covers"? So I don't know, I know some dogs can be as smart as a 2nd grader or something so post your thoughts and answers please!
