Does US Permanent Residents (legal aliens) need a visa to enter Italy?

I am a US Permanent Resident (Green card holder) and a citizen of Bangladesh. I will be travelling to Florence, Italy this January for study purposes. Will I need a visa to travel to Italy or will my green card allow me to enter without a visa?
